Australia's National ICT Careers Week, which is designed to draw new recruits to the ICT sector, has seen an increase in interest from non-ICT companies.
The event, which will begin on 28 July this year, will feature activities from various organisations in the private and public sectors, as well as education and industry institutions.
One such non-ICT company participating in the events is the Westpac bank.
"Studying computing is the pathway to a rewarding career, particularly in the finance industry," said Diane Sias, a group executive at Westpac.
Enterprise search engine company Funnelback is also involved.
Funnelback’s GM, Stuart Beil, said: "Working in ICT is about meeting people, understanding their problems and providing them with solutions that have utility and impact."
